when is the peak hours to avoid?<<
Route 3 into Bangkok is not that busy anyway but it should be quieter after 9 am till 3 pm .

You need Highway 34 from Chonburi which joins Highway 35 to Samut Sakhon. There is a ferry crossing that is quick with about 10 ferries running simultaneously. Motorbikes are not allowed on Highway 9 (ring road) which is the easier route.18
Thanks again for the answers. I just read it and now I'm at Hua Hin. It has been a stressful ride for me. Lots of vehicles all the way before and after the complicated part, especially huge scary lorries. I followed route 3 until Chonburi, and then I took the Bang Na road (there is no 'trat' at the sign post), route 34 if I am not mistaken, keeping to the left as traffic on the frontage road is very fast. I turned into Samut Prakan by mistake and ended up taking a ferry to cross the river. Someone draw me a map and I found Rama II Road which leads to Samut Sakhon (route 35). I'm so glad that I finally manage to head south.
