Toronto to Montreal October

Hello,

We are a couple heading to Canada in October this year on 20th October. Flying in to Toronto and flying back out of Montreal on 1st November (so we have to make our way to Montreal and fill our time inbetween) We have a car/SUV rented.

We arrive 20th October and have a couple of nights/days in Toronto already to sight see etc, We are then off to Niagra for a night. What i'm looking to find out is ... is it feasible to drive from Niagara up to North bay direction then head east over to Montreal. From google maps the distance/time doesnt seem too much.

I'm thinking we can drive up towards north bay and stay in cabins etc on way up. then head for Ottawa for a night or 2 then on to Montreal.

We have 7 nights from leaving Niagara to drive up and over to Montreal.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where we could stay/visit and what general direction we could head in?

What are the weather conditions around north bay?

Any advice appreciated!!

Many thanks,

aphrosy

I have never driven from Niagara to North Bay, but from North Bay to Ottawa / Montreal, you are on the main Canadian Highway straight through.

And the weather around the end of October can be really hit and miss in that area. It can be mild, but I'd say more times than most you are looking at near winter weather, colder temperatures, and possibly even some snow! It's a really unpredictable time of year.

Its about an 8 hour drive from Niagara to North Bay. If you want to do it I'd suggest you stay over in the Barrie/Orilla area. I think #1&2 is overstating the case somewhat on the weather. End of Oct you will be at the end of the fall colour season.

I'm not sure why you want to head up into the North Bay area unless it is simply to see the country. If it was me I'd spend the time in Ottawa and Montreal instead. Lots to do in both places.

If Montreal is a destination not an attraction then consider doing the thousand Islands near Kingston then up to Ottawa. But keep in mind end of Oct you are at the end of the fall color season.
