Belgian press reports that her body was found in a ravine by the police today at 1:30pm local time and they also mentioned that she never made it to the first checkpoint (so it must have happened somewhere in the very start of the trek). I read conflicting information as to how exactly she has been found. Newspapers (mostly copying each other) write that Debbie's body was found from the air, after tips from locals, while there was talk on a video of sniffer dogs to have found her. It doesn't really matter. Her body will or has been brought to Kathmandu for autopsy, as the exact cause of her death remains unknown so far.
She was probably trekking solo.
Meanwhile in Debbie's hometown her friends had organised a benefit for this saturday, a DEBBIEfiet to support the family financially with the enormous costs involved with the Search and in the hope of bringing Debbie back home.
Ironically enough she will be back home, which can't be said of Aubrey Sacco.

In some ways things don’t add up as Deurali is in between Dunche and Singh Gompa so if this happened at the start of her trek and she left a suitcase in Syabru Besi she wouldn’t trek this way – Unless of course she had almost completed her trek and was heading down from the Gosiakund area back too the road at Dunche but then she would still have to get back to Syabru Besi to retrieve the suitcase ??.
I trekked this way in March 2010 and didn’t meet many other trekkers, there are only 3 small teahouses between Dunche and Singh Gompa, the path is steep and at times narrow so if trekking alone she could have slipped and then not been easy to discover - Possibly a better end than other possibilities, but the PM will likely show the cause of death.
But a Tragedy whatever and a a Very Sad end for someone so young :-(
Best Wishes

Second foreign woman to go missing in Langtang area found dead
A Belgian woman, who had gone missing for 10 days in Langtang area of Rasuwa district, has been found dead in a forest in the district.
The decapitated body of Debbie Maveau, 23, was found at Deurali, Syafru VDC – some 50 meters below the famous hiking trail - on Thursday morning following an aerial search conducted to find her. The aerial search was conducted after local villagers informed the police about the possibility of finding Maveau in the forest.
Police said they are investigating the case to find the real cause of Maveau’s death.
The Belgian woman had entered the Langtang National Park area on May 31, planning to trek in the Gosainkunda area for six days. She was reported missing since June 5.
Maveau was the second woman who went missing in Langtang area while hiking after American woman Aubrey Caroline Sacco also went missing while trekking in the area in 2010. However, police are yet to find the whereabouts of Sacco or whether she is alive or dead even after two years. nepalnews.com

Debbie's death is such sad news. My thoughts and prayers also go out to her family and friends. AsianDutchmanSurfing, I would not read too much into the report that you posted above. Nepali news reports often report things wrong, especially initially. There is also the factor of translation error. We will all have to wait a few days to understand what really happened. As Rob notes above, there are some very steep trail sections in the vicinity. An accidental fall could have caused traumatic injuries, including some severing of body parts.69
