landborder crossings into gabonhi,
I might go to gabon in summer and want to figure out my routing including some of the neighbouring states without spending too much on (infrequent and expensive) flights. Has anyone recently gone overland from gabon to congo, cameroon oder equatorial guinea (bata)? are land borders open to eu travellers, would you get entra visas there, would you need special travel permits? is there any reliable air service to malabo and sao tome? any information appreciated ...

1You have to get in advance your visa for Equatorial Guinea (and once in Equatorial Guinea you'll need a permit for some areas). If you plan to cross the border between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, get updated info on the ground to see if it's opened and/or if there have been incidents recently.
Ethiopian Airlines, Royal Air Maroc and Ceiba have flights from Libreville to Malabo.
Air Nigeria and Ceiba have flights from Libreville to Sao Tome. Ceiba also flies from Malabo to Sao Tome.

thanks for your prompt answer. do you need compulsory travel and foto permits everywhere in equatorial guinea? how much hassle is to be expected in general (road blocks, etc.)? embassies in europe seem to insist on a letter of invitation, HIV-tests, etc. before issuing a visa. any experience if it is easier to get such visa in neighbouring countries?
