Venice & Tuscany
For our 50th anniversary trip next March ,we want to go to Paris ,Venice ,and Tuscany for one week in each place . When I retired in April,1999 ,we went to Paris for a week , Provence for a week at a B&B in Vinsobres near Vaison-la-Romaine ,Florence for a week, and Rome for one week . We rented a car for the week in Provence. We are interested in art ,food ,music , and auto museums.I'd like to stay in a village or a nearby B&B in Tuscany as well as visit Milan , In Paris & Florence we stayed in small hotels on the floor that did not require going up & down very many stairs .I'm thinking of starting the trip in Paris ,than flying to Venice or Milan . Any Venice & Tuscany location & accomodation reccomendations will be most appreciated . I also would like to rent a Fiat 500 or fun car for the week in Tuscany if that makes any sense. Thanks.2
Congratulations on your 50th.Venice is a great place to rent an apartment, especially if you're staying a week during the off-season. Limiting yourselves to the ground floor however will be, um, limiting. Though I'm sure there will be some options.
I once stayed here, a ground floor apartment, with no complaints. Looks like prices have gone up a bit since I last visited. You'll probably get a better deal by speaking directly to the owners. Easy access to the Billa Supermarket on the super-busy Strada Nova, but the apartment itself is tucked away in a quiet corner. Closest vaporetto stop is Ca D'Oro.
The one drawback I remember is that there weren't a lot of windows, so not a lot of sun. Presumably, you won't be spending a lot of the daytime in the apartment anyway.
