Cooking schools/ homestays

I am looking for something like a cooking school combined with a home stay somewhere in Italy. I'm not interested in the luxury hotel with swimming pool variety partly because of the cost that entails but mainly because what we are interested in is the genuine cooking experience of good home cooking.

Does anyone know if something like this exists or where I should look to get some information about this? I have googled for info, but I would be grateful to hear some personal recommendations too. Thank you:)

How about an impersonal recommendation--that is, second-hand, but on good authority?

This place gets raves on the Slow Travel forum (Letizia, the woman who runs the place, is a regular on their Italian forum), and they are mostly hardcore foodies over there.

Thanks clementis_fur_cap, I watched the video and it looks just the ticket! Laid back atmosphere in wonderful surroundings.

I am actually doing this research for a friend of mine who is looking for a course which would last a few days. I was wondering if this lady who, according to the info, runs courses twice a week, prepares different menus on both days, so my friend could then attend a two-day class? I will look into that. But thanks again!

Try emailing Manuela at Cook Eat Italian in Florence. She may be able to put together a package of their regional cuisine classes.

Hi Piaczka,
I recently visited a cooking school called Convivio Rome Italian Cooking Holidays. They are based just north of Rome. My family and I really had a great time there and I can highly recommend them. The experience was authentic and something really special. The cooking school was set in Guido and Sally's home kitchen inside a beautiful medieval hilltop village, truly untouched! We just attended for one day, but I know Sally and Guido (Australian and Italian husband/wife team) who run Convivio Rome also run longer cooking holidays and you can stay in the medieval village. I am not sure if it is homestay type of accommodation but you can ask. website <http://www.conviviorome.com>
