Hotel Muhabura.I stayed here for 4 days in March 2012 (Traveled as a single).
Their rates were $40 to $50 per night apparently. I actually paid $60 per night as it was through a tour company, but I was happy with that.
I stayed in room12 the Di Fossey room. Apparently (as the hotel dossier says) this is the room Di Fossey stayed in when she came down from the mountain. I would suggest it hasn't been updated since :-) I had no hot water, but had come to expect that with Africa from other budget/moderate Hotels I have stayed at.
Although the room was clean, it certainly could do with some fixing up clean. See the photo's.
Being the Di Fossey room, there was a huge Gorilla statue in the room!
Breakfast was included. Simple omelet, tea/coffee, fruit, toast. One morning their was a huge tour group wanting breakfast at 5.30 (normal start) but i don't think the staff new how to handle it, it was very uncoordinated. The tour group did not help things by not having an understanding of the situation. Their was also an English problem with the staff at breakfast. But I was happy with the breakfast and had some patients.
I enjoyed sitting and having a beer and a meal at the front terrace area . All the staff were polite and as to rooms with a view of the Volcano's, you will get the same view going to the park entrance anyway.
I did note that there was a couple who moved into the room next to me. But on being shown to their room, demanded to be placed elsewhere and they ended up being moved to the rooms with the view of the Volcano's.
I would stay again, just remember it is priced accordingly to Budget.

I assume that you had alreay paid the tour company a fee for your trip and to find that they were adding an extra 50% to the cost of rooms would not leave me very happy

4I also stayed in the hotel twice; perfect place with authentic character.
The rate for a single is $40 for a single and $ 50 for a double, direct at the reception. Internet is there throughout the place.
New rooms have always hot water.
Best in town to meet local people and have a chat with gorilla tourist!!
