Old hotel in Iguazu and Manaus

Hi,
I have been trying in vain to find any online reference to the hotels I stayed at 20 years ago at Iguazu and Manaus. I thought the name was "Tropical" but that search led to nothing.

Both had the same name and were managed by the same company (maybe state run?). They had a special charm in their old rambling colonial architecture, with long tiled corridors and big wooden doors, ample gardens and a small zoo. Do they still exist? have they changed names/ownership? Being in them I felt like in a Garcia Marquez story (I know it's not the same country or language but the humid history-laden atmosphere was similar).

I'd appreciate any info.
Thanks
Anca

Yes, the Hotel Tropical is still in Manaus. I think it has changed ownership a couple of times, but I don't know when. Some people love it and others think it's crazy overpriced (sometimes overpriced at any price).
