2There are innumerable videos you can google for about the trail.
It is not possible to do the round trip in one day.
You need a permit if you are camping or going beyond Hanakoa valley

3It is indeed possible for a strong hiker to make the round trip in a day. You should have experience at similar hikes, be aware of the rapid onset of sundown, carry emergency provisions, headlamp and a way to treat drinking water, think carefully about sun protection and the possibility of torrential rain, etc. etc. etc. Nothing too much out of the ordinary.
The trail's not bad for an experienced hiker. It's entirely worthwhile, but you'll notice that the whole idea of hoofing all the way out there only to turn around and race back again the minute you reach what is, in effect, paradise is sort of stupid. You'll also miss a lot of side hikes and exploration.
Hope that's helpful.

4If you have to ask if you can do this trail in a day then I wouldn't attempt it. You can be in the best shape of your life but if it starts to rain while your on the trail you will have to walk at a snails pace. I would highly recommend doing the trail at least once before you go an make that decision.
Speaking of videos I made a quick one last year to show some people what it was like.
