Snakes

Hi,

I would like to see the snake farm in Kanchanaburi, but I can't find out where exactly it is. So, anyone here know of it please do let me know. And while I'm on the subject anyone know which snakes are involved in the Bangkok snake show? And one more, where around Bangkok would I find wild snakes, many thanks,

P.

Ps yes, I like snakes ;)

The Bangkok snake farm says this on their web-site and it's also how I remember it

Venomous snakes including the king cobra, Siamese cobra, Russell's viper, banded krait, Malayan pit viper, green pit viper and Pope's pit viper are milked daily for their venom to make snake-bite antidote. Venom-milking and snake-handling shows are held daily at 10.30 am and 2.00 pm on weekdays, and 10.30 am on public holidays.

I think those days are long gone. 40 years ago we had green snakes in the backyard in downtown Sarasin road (this road was actually a soi back then).

I dont ever recall a snake farm in Kanchanaburi. There is one at Chiang Mai if you're going that way.

...a friend of mine was at the Khlong Toey market last week and a 3 meter reticulated python slithered out of the canal and into one of the chicken cages...

Some of the guys caught it and sent it on its way.

You'll have to be fast to see one before it becomes dinner.

Ok. Thanks. Just that the blogs I've been reading mention a snake farm on the organised trips to kanchanaburi.

KING COBRA, krats, other cobras, and if I remember "Patti" a Burmese Python. It is worth the ticket and often you can get your hands on some of the snakes. I draped the King Cobra around my shoulders for a photo. Obviously the handlers held it's head.

OK thanks. I went there yesterday and quite enjoyed it. The Burmese Python was kind of sweet :)
