Diving in Fiji

Hi,

I'm considering Fiji as one option for completing my DM course but have never dived there before. I'd really like to know if anyone can recommend a good dive operator in Fiji to enquire with!

I'd also be interested to hear people's feedback in general re diving in Fiji - where are the good dive sites, what to expect in the way of sea life, are living and diving costs comparable to S.E. Asia or more expensive, what are your thoughts re Fiji culture, environment and people.

Thanks in advance!

Fiji is loaded with good dive sites. My favorite sites are in the Vatu-i-ra passage and the Bligh Waters. I did my diving with Kai Viti, but they are long defunct. Ra Divers and Dive Wananavu currently service that area. It's easy get to, just a 3-hour ride from Nadi.

Taveuni and the Koro Sea also get high marks. I would skip the Mamanucas islands, which while very pretty don't have the same type of diving. Beqa lagoon is also beautiful but I'm not sure if its world class like Vatu-i-ra.

Living costs are nowhere near as cheap as SEAsia, more along the lines of Australia and European prices!
