One Way Ticket to Spain through Dublin
Hello,I will be flying to Spain at the end of June. I am an American who bought a one-way ticket from BOS-Barcelona with a layover in Dublin. I am enrolled in a language program in Spain and was wondering if anyone has encountered any problems traveling either through customs at Dublin or in Spain on a one-way ticket, and if so, what advice do you have? I have dual citizenship as an Irish citizenship but my Irish passport will not be ready by the time I depart.

Since Ireland is not Schengen, I doubt they will care since you have your connecting flight to leave the country. I don't know if anyone could say exactly what would happen. Since on a US passport you have 90 days in Schengen, I imagine the agent at BCN might be curious why you didn't buy a round trip ticket. Be prepared to explain your plans, and if you can document your claims, even better. What would your response if they ask "do you have enough money for your stay and to leave Schengen?" Or it is possible no one will ask anything. Still, better to be prepared.2
You won't have to go through immigration (= the people who check your passport) or customs (= the people who check your bags) in Dublin, unless you've booked your flights separately and need to pick up your baggage to check it in again. However, I am not entirely sure if Spain requires non-EU visitors to be in possession of a ticket out of the country. If such a requirement exists, there is a good chance the check-in agent in Boston will ask you to show it and if you can't, you won't be allowed to board the flight.
Also note that a student visa may be required to participate in that language programme.

Aribo's right about Dublin. You did say "layover" and for some reason I imagined your wanted to leave the airport. Don't mind me.The need for a return ticket from Spain are murky, at least here (see 3.3, but it says "may"):

I would definitely call the airline you leave BOS with and ask the same question and if it's possible you could be denied boarding.
