Another earthquake...There was another earthquake in Emilia this morning (9 am)...at least 10 people dead.
Be aware if you are going to the Modena area that lots of churches etc.are fenced off (or pieces of ceiling etc.have fallen down) and there are many people who can't stay in their houses.Probably not the best time to visit that area......

1Yes, it's more than an earthquake, something like a seismic wave, there have been two other strong events around one pm. They have been clearly perceived all over Northern Italy. Schools and public buildings have been evacuated twice.
The major damages and the dead (15 at the moment, but several people are missing) are in the Emilia area of Bologna, Modena, Ferrara and provinces. The motorways are fine, the railway service has been disrupted for safety checks on the lines around Bologna, which is a major traffic hub in Italy.
Most of Italy is at earthquake risk, but this area isn't used to such heavy and frequent seismic events. I agree with lucapal: don't visit Emilia, don't go to Bologna (the coast is fine though), things are pretty bad there. A prayer or a thought for all the people who lost family members,or a house, or a job.

3There were no damages in Milan or in Como. Experiencing such a strong earthquake is a bad experience just the same. We were woken up by furniture rattling and trembling floors in the night of May 20th, and it was even worse this morning. I live 250 km north of the epicentre, Como is further to north west.
