rio - ilha grande - iguazu - floripa over xmas..buses?

hey!

We're planning our first trip to brazil, are into music, partying, culture good food, sites etc. We'lll be there as follows:

Sao Paulo 8th Dec (would you spend a few day here.. i've read its worth skiping?)
we then plan to do something along the lines of bus to rio,
spend 4-5 days here, bus/boat to ilha grande, onto paraty, working onto Iguazu. Spend 3-4 days here and aim to be in floripa for the 23rd december for which we'll stay 4 nights. We aim to be in Buenos Aires for around the 28th dec in time for new year.

Now, we plan to use buses as much as possible and don't mind long journeys, Can anyone see any issues with buses running over this period? Or are they regular?

Any others suggestions on this route with this time frame much appreciated!

James

For SP - Ilha Granda bus is perfectly fine, for anything else not really.
Issues are simple: buses will be as expensive as flying and scenery will be boring. You have enough time to book flight in advance for a good fare, take my advice and do it!

thanks! so you think fly rio to iguazu and fly iguazu to floripa? is there any disruption in service for buses between floripa to buenos aires between xmas and new year?

Rio or SP, if you by any change be going to Paraty then SP is same distance and flights tends to by slightly cheaper. There will be no interruptions of buses, but it will make much more sense to first go to Floripa, then Iguazu and then you can take a bus from Puerto Iguasu in Argentina to BA. You should book in advance, as those days can be tight for seats.
Any particular reason you want to go to Floripa? It's nothing special to be honest, Costa Verde is much nicer.

Ok great cheers. yes we are hoping to go to paraty after sp on the way through to ilha grande then rio. Looking at the cost of flighst, we.ll probably get a flight from rio to iguazu. Then bus to floripa (we are staying here over xmas, enjoy the party and have heard good things about the place).

Where is costa verde? is it costal? We'll then probably bus from floripa to ba as the cost of flights looks pretty pricey. What is the best bus company to pre book this with? We have fixed dates for when we leave floripa and intend to arrive in ba so can book this now if possible.

Thanks again!

Costa Verde is a term describing area stretching from from Rio to Ubatuba, really scenic. It literally means "Green cost", Ilha Grande and Paraty are both part of Costa Verde
Also regarding your question I've just noticed - skip SP, it's a concrete jungle, it's really nothing interesting there for a traveller

ah ok I see, we plan on going to pararty then ilha grande en route to rio. We'll then fly rio - iguazu (how long would you recommend spending there?). It looks like it'll be buses down to floripa from there for xmas then a bus onto buenos aires for new years.

Just to confirm will there definately be buses running from floripa - BA around the 27th december? Do we need to book in advance? Any info on websites to book this appreciated!

Cheers

I'm not sure what companies do the route, but they for will have service on 27th. I would suggest making a booking, it's a crazy time just anywhere in the world.
For Iguazu 2 days is enough, if you get there in the morning then you have time to see Brazilian side, transfer to Argentina (overnight there, it's much better), whole day for Argentina side, sleep and continue next day.
