Patagonia - May/June???

Hi Everyone,

We are in (not so) sunny Buenos Aires, but having a great time, eating great steak and generally loving being here!!

We were wondering if this is a good time to go to Patagonia or not and if so where we should go? My wife and I would really like to see the massive glacier near El Calafate and if possible some trekking or outdoor activity would be great.

It's a long long journey from BA to El Calafate and the airfares are prohibitively expensive so any good advice would be very much appreciated, i.e. cheapest and most interesting way to get there, accomodation recommendations etc.

Thanks in advance!

Umesh

No, it's a really bad time to go if you don't fancy cold and rain. It's the almost winter! It will be dark very early too.
Better plan this for summer or at least late spring / early autumn!

We were in the Patagonia region at the end of march beginning of april trying to do the "W" at Torres del Paine. It's started snowing and also climbing to the lake at Mount Fitzroy there was snow at the top and hard to climb.
