Repaying Argentina reciprocation fee on stolen passport?

Hello!

I travelled to Argentina a few years ago and paid the reciprocation fee of $131 to enter the country. I just recently had my passport stolen, but plan to make a trip to Argentina in the next few months. I am getting a new/ replacement passport, but wanted to know if I would then need to REPAY the reciprocation fee or will the system track that I've already paid in the past?

I'm a US citizen by the way.

Thanks so much!
Ana

If you have no proof you've paid I'm afraid that they will be more than happy to charge you again. But as always you should contact Argentinian embassy with those questions.

You won't know until you arrive at the airport and ask. They may or may not have the information in their system. It may be by passport number and not by name. Just assume you will have to pay it again and perhaps you will be lucky and won't have to.

Is best to plan not to arrive via Buenos Aires, then the problem is solved.

,,only if you fly into the two BA airports, NOT if you take international flights into different airports such as Mendoza, Cordoba or Salta.
