Hawaii solo advices
Hi,I'm 21 year old girl and I'm planning my first solo trip to Hawaii in the beginning of September, since I've never done that before I am asking everybody for help and suggestions. I wanna go either to Maui or Oahu. I will not rent a car, so I was hoping to find the right place, where I can travel (walk)easily without the car, but also see as much as possible in beautiful Hawaii :).
Thank you!

If you can't or don't want to rent a car, then stick to Oahu.2
There was a hostel in Oahu that did day trips with a van. Sorry I don't recall the name.4
I was recently in Maui, and you really do need a car if you want to explore beyond the beaches. There IS a bus service, though, so you could get around, but I'm not sure how frequent or reliable it is. I think Oahu would be better on all accounts though because there is a lot of night life, great beaches, cheap places to eat (get yourself a plate lunch AWAY from the beach; just head back a few blocks from the main drag in Waikiki) and you can use The Bus to get around. That's what I did when I was there when I was in my early 20s. Went everywhere, including Pearl Harbor. Waikiki area is also very busy, so you won't be wandering around alone, which makes me feel safer personally. Plus you're more likely to meet people doing the same thing as you. I found Maui to be very family and couples oriented, which I'm guessing isn't really what you're looking for. Have a great trip!6
I dont know why you picked Hawaii, its really expensive, and it sucks to not have a car, and its a honeymoon/couples/family destination. Go to Mexico, Guatemala or Costa Rica, far cheaper, far more fun with lots of like minded and same age travelers, far more exotic, and lot more nature and culture. If you want to surf, then go to Costa Rica, endless surf towns, surf camps and cheap beer.
