Reading suggestions (novels, travelogues, etc) for trip to Africa

Hi all, I will be traveling to East Africa (prob start in Kenya) in September and then do slow travel making my way to S. Africa. I'm looking for some recommended reading from those of you who have been and think would be interesting, helpful, etc. I'm doing all the normal research and planning but want a little extra with some novels or travelogues worth the read.
