Thira (Santorini) to Rhodes

Hello

As a couple we will be traveling through the greek islands from 25th of May until the 1st of June where we intend on taking the ferry from Rhodes to Marmaris in which we have accommodation booked. We have arranged accommodation at Mykonos, Ios and Santorini. It is a quick jump across the islands with 2 or 3 nights at each.. All the ferries are fine until we get to Santorini in which we were unaware that they dont run everyday to Rhodes. We have to get from Santorini to Marmaris (Turkey) on the 1st of June. We have looked at flights back to Athens and then to Rhodes and making the ferry, but it is very expensive. Are there any other option, any other islands we could goto with connection to Turkey from Santorini?

Thank you

I think you really underestimate traveling time among islands and you try to fit far too much into a sort period of time. I do not think I would ever try to connect Santorini to Rhodes and then Marmaris on only a day! All ferry schedules will be on www.gtp.gr by now...
Arranging accommodation before secure transport logistics is completely wrong when we talk about the Greek islands! I don't think there is a direct flight from Santorini to other islands at your dates, so either you have to cancel/alter accommodation and use Blue Star 1 that will run on Monday 28th May on 01.05 AM from Santorini and arrives on Rhodes about 10.00 AM , either use various flight connections on 31rst May/1rst June. I did a quick research and I do not think there is other option.
I hope someone more experienced on ferry system would come up with an alternative, but personally I do not find any!

Thank you for your time. We have decided to spend the extra money on a flight back to athens and then to rhodes 150 pounds each, it is expensive but its only 3.5 hours compared to the 9ish on the boat so it is not too bad. I should have looked into ferry times between these two islands but as we are restricted on time I think it will work ok.

Cheers

I think you have done the right thing. Last year Blue Star 1 ran from Santorini to Rhodes 3-4 times per week, but this year seems to be going only on Mondays. The other ferry on that route, Prevelis, takes 14 hours.

You wrote: "All the ferries are fine until we get to Santorini in which we were unaware that they dont run everyday to Rhodes." That's because Mykonos, Ios, and Santorini are in the Cyclades on established ferry routes. Rhodes is in the Dodecanese, a different island group.

Santorini dp Wednesday 9.00 - Syros ar 18.00, dp 22.50 - Rhodos ar Thursday 10.10.
But only 1 day is by far not enough for a somewhat decent visit of Rhodos.
