Getting an Indian transit visa in Bangkok

Hello,

I am planning to head to Nepal from Bangkok, and the cheapest option seems to be a flight to Kolkata. Would I need an exit flight to get a transit visa issued in Bangkok, or would a train ticket to Raxaul on the border suffice?

Thanks,

Jeraboa

A train ticket should be fine, in the uk at least its acceptable, when applying in London you get a fifteen day transit visa which only allows for three days in India, I recieved a fifteen day transit visa in Islamabad for a flight out of Delhi a couple of years ago which didn't have these restrictions and gave me a whole week to meander from the border to Delhi.
