im backpacking across asia aswell! from the reading ive done most of these guys are right, the train is the easiest way! Its not too long a trip aswell which is a bonus!Ive been told by several people though to keep your stay in Agra short as its not the nicest place in India. So you could probably see everything in a day or 2 be4 moving on!

Hello. There are plenty of trains from Delhi to Agra, just look up your intended journey on Cleartrip. From Agra to Jaipur, the trains leave later in the day, so if this doesn't suit you, then you'll need to take a bus- approx 5 hours. I recently did this as I was at the Taj Mahal in the early morning and had no desire to stay in Agra all day. There was an 11.30am AC bus which I missed, then the next one was at 13:30 (non-AC but fine), or at 14:30, another AC bus. I'm sure they continue in a similar pattern all day. Given the choice, I found trains a much nicer experience and I recommend you take an least one daytime train in India just for the experience (if you haven't already).4
if you are backpacking ,, try out the bus to jaipur .as rajasthan is more enjoyable in bus .
but avoid it if you will be traveling in AC. but i guess their will be volvos too.
because buses will make some stops where you can deboard bus for some time and check out the place.

Do stop by at Fatehpur Sikri. The ghost city is magnificient. As you are open to fly option, consider hiring an AC car and driver - about Rs. 4500/-Edited by: Delhibedandbreakfast
