Eid ul-Fitr/Seker Bayrami in Turkey

My friend and I are going to be in Turkey from mid August until the 26th. I'm looking for a recommendation on the best place to stay during the end of Ramadan celebrations so that we can get a real feel for the culture, but still be able to eat since I know a lot of shops close. We're flying into and out of Istanbul, so we'd like to be somewhere else in the country, but we're open to pretty much anywhere else!

What kind of celebrations did you have in mind ?
Şeker Bayramı is a 3 day family holiday at the end of the Ramazan month.
This is a time to visit relatives , friends and the family plus enjoying having big meals.
It is NOT a festival.
Since it is in August this year, many people will be running out of the big cities and rush to the sea side resorts for a sun and sea break.
You will need to buy your travel tickets in advance, all buses-planes will be full.

I did mean Şeker Bayramı, sorry. I'm mostly concerned about finding a place where we won't be overwhelmed by non-Turkish tourists, but still able to find food since it's a family holiday which often means smaller restaurants close down.

We're trying to make this decision now so that we can book now instead of waiting and being unable to travel.

I would be very concerned about the hotel situation during the Şeker Bayramı if you are in a resort town such as Bodrum.People make their reservations weeks in advance.Finding a hotel in Istanbul shouldn't be diifficult. Also all restaurants in touristy towns will be open and busy .I can not imagine a restaurant being closed in a resort town during the busiest time of the year.In major cities many restaurants will be closed because their clients and the owners will be out of town.
