Egypt in 10 days: A more realistic itinerary??After getting some awesome ideas from many of you great travelers, I think my friend and I are honing in on a final itinerary. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Arrive Cairo stay one day (explore some sites)
Leave for Luxor on night train (Is this the best option?)
Luxor for two days (Karnak and Luxor museum, Valley of Kings and Temple of Hatshepshut. Am I missing anything important? ThanksTravellinAndi for your ideas)
Fly to Sharm and bus to Dahab for three day stay of diving and relaxing
Back to Cairo for day and a half of more exploration (Giza, museum, shopping-ideas for shopping/souvenir?)
Anything I missed? Advice? Getting there and away? Best places to stay? Don't need lodging in Cairo, have that taken care of. Just ideas for Luxor and Dahab. We are on a budget, but definitely want to stay as cool as possible.
Thanks for any ideas/wisdom you can share!

1I love Dahab, but it would be more logical for you to skip it and visit Assuan and Abu Simbel instead, since you will already be in the Nile Valley in Luxor. You can hire a felucca for the day and sail on the Nile, which is never more beautiful than along Assuan and the islands around.
In Cairo do spend one day visiting the fabulous neighborhood of Islamic Cairo, especially Al-Muizz street towards Bab El Futuh on one side and Bab El Zuweila on the other, the Ibn Tulun mosque, and the Cafe Fishawi at Khan Al Khalili. Shopping can be done in the Khan Al Khalili bazzar but also in handicraft galleries like Oum El Dounia on 3 Talaat Harb street near Tahrir square, and in Khan Misr Tulun which faces the Ibn Tulun mosque.

2In your previous post, you said you were a diver. Dahab. Don't miss your chance to dive in the Red Sea/Gulf of Aqaba. We went to Egypt for the diving... with tourism our secondary purpose. I understand where you're coming from. Again, Red Sea Relax in Dahab. We did Luxor--Valley of the Kings/Queens, Temples of Karnak and Luxor, Mummification Museum, Museum at Luxor, and back for Hatsheput, Collossus, tombs of the Nobles, etc., (my son works in criminal forensics and insisted on photographing every rock he could; definite overkill). We were in Luxor 4+ days and had too much time.

3In Dahab I recommend Penguin. Ask for a room with a balcony over the sea. The restaurant lounge on the beach is a fabulous place to chill out and you always meet expats living in Cairo around, which can make for interesting discussions. It's a 15-10 minute walk from the centre so it's quieter.
If you want something more comfy, you have the Nesima next door, but I find it a bit sad. Penguin is more lively.

4Based on your interests your itinerary seems fine.
In Luxor be prepared for a lot of hassle. I experienced it personally and all reports continue to confirm that with tourism down the hassle factor has increased substantially. It's certainly worth the trip though.
