Place on Mongol Rally 2012
Hi everyone,If you're looking for something to do this summer and have some spare cash then why not join us on the Mighty Mongol Rally 2012! http://www.theadventurists.com/the-adventures/mongol-rally . The rally runs from the UK to Mongolia and we're planning to take between 4 to 6 weeks over it going the short way through Russia. Teams consist of 1 car under 1200cc or 2 motorbikes (or emergency vehicles). There is also a requirement to raise £1000 for charity.
We have one place left on our team ideal for someone who doesn't mind being stuck in a Fiat Punto with 3 guys for 10,000 miles and also doesn't mind slumming it because we're students so our budget is pretty tight. We're based in the south of the UK and have already bought a lot of the equipment so we have a realistic idea of the budget and its looking like its going to be £1500-£1800 each including visas and return flights etc. However with sponsorship this may be less.
If this sounds like it may be your proverbial "cup of tea" then let me know asap.
Cheers.

Yeah all that stuff and we've already done the majority of the preparation. The main thing is it's a pretty much once in a lifetime trip and gives you the oppertunity to travel through about 11 different countries.I know of one other company that runs a similar trip but The Adventurists are more established and do provide a great deal of help when it comes down to the paperwork side it.

Hey Meester_Rob,I was thinking of doing just this, except for Next year - however due to timetabling issues I don't think I will have the time. Good luck though.
I do have one question though:
Does the Adventurists arrange visas and the such for your team or do you have to arrange that yourself?
Thanks

Hi RefreshedYeah you should definitely go for it if you have the chance.
The adventurists don't arrange visas themselves but they do put you in contact with a company called the Visa Machine which will process all the admin etc. Its very useful if you don't happen to live near an embassy and saves a fair amount of hassle. Plus Mongol Rally teams get 15% discount.
My main advice to you though is pick your team well and take time to think about what the main costs are. At the moment we're having a shock because we forgot to account for vaccinations and its looking like that will be a major cost.
Talk to teams who have done it before too because they're full of useful advice.
Cheers

For my brother in law, visas were their biggest headache, Russia and some of the 'stans particularly.
