Khao Lak weather forecast not great - what island has better weather now?My girlfriend and I are trying to find a scenic island in Thailand to visit from April 25-May 5th and were planning on Khao Lak and Phra Nong on the Andaman coast, however, as we enter monsoon season, the weather forecasts aren't looking favorable (many showers, and clouds).
Can anyone make a suggestion as to what other islands may have better weather right now, but with similar features (i.e.: beautiful beaches, jungle treks with monkeys and birds, and nice snorkeling?)

3There are two general rainy seasons in Thailand: Most of the country including the Andaman (west) coast June-Oct (SW monsoon) but the lower gulf (east coast) rainy season is more like Nov-March (NE monsoon). April/May is a tough call, as the SW/NE monsoon is in transition and either side can be sunny or rainy (and the hottest time of year between rains). Every year it changes at slightly different times and hard to predict, but since your visit starts in just a couple days look at current weather and roll the dice.

4Yes indeed, better to visit the Gulf in those months. Also note that Khao Lak is not an island!
In order to get an idea on the weather conditions in the Gulf, please have a look at my archives, half way down the page on my Samui info and weather blog , right hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.
