Where is the Pai of 10 years ago?

Stopped going to Pai long ago for various reasons. One of them being the types of tourists it now`attracts. Not really any different than the Khao San Road, FMP or Vang Vieng crowd. The last people i wish to encounter on my travels in Southeast Asia. As far as keeping your BIG mouth shut. That is really not that bad of an idea.17
Went to Pai in 2000 and it was cool but getting rather hip, went back in 2005 and thought I was in wrong town, OMG, bummer. Go to Burma, Hsipaw is the new Pai...haha
