dyers soukI have some very avid knitters in my family would love to purchase wool in Morocco for knitting crafts.
Are the wools is the dyers souk made for the commercial carpets and textiles or can one purchase wool for personal use.

1The wool I saw in the dyers souk in Marrakesh was quite coarse in comparison to what I would want in a garment, although I did see old fashioned hanks of finer wool in a shop closer to the garment sector. Unfortunately as I wasn't particularly interested (My knitting needles have long since been given away), I didn't note the vicinity or any costs.

2I dunno about wool in the souks, but after considerable searching in Marrakech, my wife found a great shop that sells materials by the yard/meter. If you are interested let me know and I will send you a PM with its address. Their material is beautiful but is expensive.

3I too am an avid knitter, and am leaving for my first trip to Morocco on June 2nd. I would love to know where I might find wool suitable for hand knitting. Yarn is one of my favorite traveling souvenirs. When I return home and begin to knit with it I get to relive all the memories associated with it from my trip.
Marocfan I would love to know the details about that shop! Thanks in advance!
If anyone else has info about yarn or fiber in Fez, Chefchouen, Marrakech or anywhere else in Morocco I'd be grateful to know.

4Theres a 'hat man" in Chefchouen who knits hats, scarves, sock etc. He may also have wool for sale but I never really looked. Facing Casa Hassan in the medina (everyone knows it) go right and thenthrough the square and his shop is on the left.
Hand fashioned and covered buttons are great items to take home if you are interested in handcrafts.
