I shop for price. And lately, UA has the best prices from BKK to LAS. My twice yearly routing.

Service is not the best, FAs are not the best, food is not the best, equipment is not the best, etc. But for two of us, I save $400-500 per trip with UA. Or, avoid a 7 hour layover in Seoul.

I wish there were other options, but I haven't found them. I use to fly JAL and KAL on a regular basis as they had direct service to LAS. But no more. LOVE them!

A friend has been flying Cathay Pacific, but what I've found is the rates are quite different when originating in BKK vs. LOS. Huge difference. He even gets a free layover in HK with CP!!!! Nice.

Great advice! Thanks much!! Have you been to Thailand? If so, any advice for once we are there?

Thanks all! We booked Cathay Pacific due to reputaion and then timing. Hopefully it is as good as what you mentioned. Other than my travel to egypt some years back, this will be longest trip yet!

There are no direct flights from US to Bangkok. You need to transit via Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Hong Kong.

For cheap fares use this, then book thru airline or Expedia.

TG's non-stop, out of LAX, was my favorite. Sad to see it go ...
