Thailand Intinary...any advice??

Hey

I am heading to Thailand in August with my boyfriend for four weeks. We are on a budget of £1000 each for the whole month we are there. Is this enough to live comfortably, planning to stay in mostly hostels and hopefully meet lots of other travellers to make friends with but also may treat ourselves to a few nice hotels along the way.

Arriving in Bangkok and looking to stay here for around four days, then heading upto Chang Mai on the overnight train. Planning to stay here for six nights (is this enough timr) before heading back to Bangkok and down to Koh Toa to complete our diving course. After four days here heading to Koh Phangan for the full moon party and staying here for four days to party and chill out. From here unsure as to whether we will have time to visit Koh Samui before heading over to Krabi then chilling out on Phi Phi island for around five days before making our way down to Kuala Lumpar. We plan to stay here for four nights before we fly to the Gold coast in Australia on a years working Visa.

Are there any other recommendations or alterations you experienced travellers would suggest. Unsure as to whether to visit Phuket and Samui as heard they are very touristy and a little seedy. I plan to see as much as possible in time time we have although we do want a good amount of time chilling out on the islands.

Look forward to any reply and any tips would be most welcome, thanks guys xx

You'll be able to live comfortably on 1000 a month each no problems, just don't be too extravagent, still you'll have enough for some treats. Also your costs will come down considerably as you will be splitting the accomodation costs.

August is monsoon season on the Andaman side so you may want to rethink your Krabi/Phi Phi plans and stck with the islands on the Gulf coast instead.

As for your budget, it seems perfectly fine.

I agree with guavagirl - you might want to skip the west side, depending on the weather while you're here. Check out Windguru for very accurate weather forecasts in specific parts of Thailand. Also, if you're coming to Koh Tao and also going to Phangan, you can safely skip Samui, which is quite touristy and won't offer much of value on top of the experiences you'll have on the other two islands.

Instead of the west coast maybe check out Khao Sok National Park. It's inland, right on a huge freshwater lake, and is gorgeous!

Have a great trip!

That's 1714 a day each, if you can't manage on that, stop staying 5*, or drinking too much booze.
Assuming you'll be sharing a room, it's the same price for 2 people as for 1.
