Public Transport Turin - Venice; Turin-Pisa-Florence-Rome

Hi

May I know if it is cheaper to travel by internal flights or by intercity trains? I checked the roundway flight from Turin to Rome and it costs slightly 90~ Euros whereas Trenitalia costs 118 Euros (cheapest option).

Any advice for transport for Turin - Venice; and then Turin-Pisa-Florence-Rome?

Thank You!

Which is cheaper depends on when you book it and when you want to go.

If you book a lot in advance, then usually budget flights.BUT....you need to add the price of going to and from the airport as well....and in peak season the prices will rise, making it as much as (or more than)the train ticket.

Fast trains are also cheaper if you can book in advance and get a mini fare.Local trains are very slow but very cheap.

Thanks lucapal

Sorry for the dumb question but how does the mini work? When I did the search on Trenitalia website, there are two choices "mini" and "bases". Do I just select mini?

Also are trains with "FRECCIA" fast train while train with "Regionale" region trains? It seems like I do not have much choices with regional trains. Most trains that come up on the search are the "FRECCIA".

Yes...you just select mini.Remember that is valid only for that train at that time...and you can't refund it.

Freccia are fast trains, but not all fast trains are freccia. Most of the regional trains are not shown more than 7 days in advance so if you are booking beyond next week you won't see them...and there is no need to book them in advance anyway.

if you want to take 'regionale',just turn up at the station and buy a ticket 10 mins brfore it goes.....

If you are on the cheap, you may want to consider the bus. It's slower, but at around 40 euro one way from Turin to either Venice or Rome, I guess one can't complain...
