Itinerary Advice - Thailand, Laos & MalaysiaAlso posted this in Thailand branch, so apologies if it's a duplicate for you...
Looking for some quick feedback on a rough itinerary for our SE Asia trip this June/July. We are flying into BKK on June 6 and out of Singapore on July 24th - about 7 weeks total. I'm mainly looking to see how feasible this is, if we're spending too much/not enough time at certain places, and good transport options between destinations. We don't want our plan to be too rigid; we'd like to leave some flexibility if we get sidetracked. We enjoy outdoor activities, markets and culinary tourism.
BKK - 2 nights
BKK - Vientiene (overnight train)
Vientiene - 2-3 nights
Vientiene - Luang Prabang (bus) - might break this up with a stop in Vang Vieng
Luang Prabang - 4-5 nights
Nong Kioaw/Muang Ngoi - 3/4 nights
Luang Prabang - Chiang Mai (flight)
Chiang Mai Area - About 1 week (maybe some side trips, Chiang Dao for example)
CM - Sukhothai (train)
Sukhothai (1 night)
Sukhothai - BKK (overnight train)
BKK - 2 nights
BKK - Ko Pha Ngan (flight to Surat Thani/ferry to KPG)
Ko Pha Ngan - 5-6 nights (diving and beach time)
KP - Penang (train from Surat Thani-Butterworth - anyone done this route? How easy is it?)
Penang - 2-3 nights
Penang to Perhentian Islands
Perhentian Islands - 2-3 nights
KL - 1-2 nights
KL to Singapore
Singapore - 2-3 nights
Fly out of Singapore on July 24
We might have time to fit in something else in Malaysia - Cameron Highlands, another beach, Taman Negara - would love some recommendations.
Thanks in advance!

3Yes 2 nights as that is only 1.5 days, take the morning bus from VTE, bus goes about every 30 mins, same to LP. Takes 4 hours to VV and 6 to LP. Many people do not go tubing in VV but there is plenty else to do, hire a bike and cycle west of the town, there is a circular route you can do, the caves charge 10,000 each so best to research which ones are best as many are not worth it.
