uk to spain by car ferry fares

Hi

we were looking at taking a fortnights holiday to southern spain in our car, travelling around a bit and camping - thinking we might be able to do it fairly cheaply.
However i've been on the brittany ferries website and a return crossing from plymouth to santander is approx £750!! we looked at portsmouth but that was very similar. Also looked at a ferry to france and driving down but that is around £350 and would cost about the same in the fuel driving down through france and spain and back.
of course the other option is the chunnel but again we're going to be looking at massive fuel costs.

im surprised the ferries are so pricey really as we've worked out that roughly the £1500 quid this trip would cost us would equate to a very very nice all inclusive holiday somewhere tropical!!!!

so does anyone have any alternative options or brittany ferries discount codes?! :-) ..................otherwise its going to be 2 weeks in sharm el sheikh again for £500 each in luxury and guaranteed sunshine!

Why don't you take a low cost flight to Andalucía and rent a car once you are there?

Take the tunnel and share the drive for 24h. A bit rubbish but massively cheaper

The Santander ferry is more expensive as it travels for about 24 times as long as the channel ferry and (I think) you also need to book a compulsory cabin. There is also no direct competition.

As #3 said, driving and a channel crossing would be a lot cheaper.
