Shuttle to Two Medicine in Glacier National Park, Montana

Hi everybody I hope to go backpacking in Glacier National Park this summer.

We only have one car, and wish to do a non-loop backcountry hike starting in Two Medicine.

Does anyone know if there is a shuttle operating to/from Two Medicine?

Is hitching feasible in Glacier?

Any input much appreciated!

Lukas

If you enter shuttle bus two medicine in a search engine, you get lots of links to both shuttles and hiking in GNP.

Hitching is possible on all major roads.

Thanks for the input.

Google yields nothing about shuttles to Two Medicine.

I know hitching is always possible. But are these roads too desolate? Is hitching common in GNP? Easy? Has anyone hitched around GNP?

Thank you all! Lukas

You are asking us to predict the rate of traffic on a road at an unknown time to predict likelihood of you getting a ride? Let's see, where did I put my crystal ball?

Ah here is your answer:
"You must dare to dream, but it is no substitute for perseverance, hard work and teamwork, because no one gets there alone."

If you're on US-2, you'll have no problem hitching. There's tons of traffic on US-2. Highway 49 has a lot of traffic too. Hitching in Montana is quite safe, especially for a guy. I've done it a bunch, though not around Glacier. As long as you don't look like a dirtbag and have a decent pack, you'll get a ride.

Google yields nothing about shuttles to Two Medicine.

Hmm ... my Google must be better than your Google then.

Thank you vinnn, for your helpful answer.

montereyjack, I am only asking if this road gets noticeable traffic. Is it one car an hour? 5 a day? Or every few minutes? I hitched over 2,000 miles around Central Europe last summer, and am familiar with the pros and cons of desolate roads.

ianw6705, my google yields many results, but none are affirmative for a shuttle to Two Medicine. If you have found a link indicating otherwise, you would be greatly helping a needy hiker!

Thanks for the effort everyone! Lukas

Fair enough ... it was a shallow search - there seemed to be a lot of references to shuttles and hikers. We have driven right round the Glacier NP "loop", and we certainly would pick up a hitch-hiking backpacker - and I expect many others will too. Have a great trip.
