The cheapest option out of Bulgaria into Romania is across the road border at Durankulak.
However, it's right over on The Black Sea.
The Ruse Toll Bridge is (I think) about 4 Levs (€2).
It's still a long way from Sofia though.
Do you actually need to take in Sofia?
There are a lot of much more interesting places.
Including Ruse - itself.... One of my favourite Bulgarian cities

i could blow off i just wish the fco got off their arses and travell theses routes
firstly i have driven these routes for 10 yrs or more and it doesnt get any better vidin is a poor exspensive crossing it cost me 62euros for car and caravan plus a fee to enter the ferry port(yard) from sofia to vidin you have to go through bandit country known as montana thought that was in usa cowboy times oh well its in bg now the road is awful and the police wear masks beware if you go this way you are better off taking your v5 your mot and your GREEN CARD no matter whgat the fco tell you you try showing your insurance to the police and they cant read english because they are not english french greek german or spanish if they (fco) got there act together all european languages and country code should be on your certificate hence a green card on a white paper so get has much paper work as you can
i found the roads in rumania and hungary poor after comming of the main roads YOU NEED A VIGNNETTE FOR THESE COUNTRIES dont get caught it a big fine and they can take your vehicle off you did the fco tell you that
i dont know where your starting from but the rac and aa do a good route planner for eastern europe are you in england or bg asda do a really good breakdown cover and its well priced you can take it on terms over 12 months and then cancell it after 6 months its worth it i had a blow out on my trailer last year problem was i had the spare stolen in austria overnight asda sent help within a hour put me and my 2 freinds up in a hotel all i paid for was a new trye
hope ive helped you a little
