Middle class hotel in Kampala

Any recommendations of decent hotels in Kampala with central location in 40$-90$ price category?

two days ago i visited JBK hotel, just opposite Barclays Bank, above the OLD TAXI PARK, as central as you can want it. Decent rooms according to me, you can check on them.

Kampala doesn't really do the middle range that well. The Speake or the Imperial Grand might be in this range, other than that you're looking at ugandan or at least not major foreign owned hotels which might circumvent the meaning of decent. If you can relocate to Entebbe then the Boma Guesthouse would be absolutely perfect, $60-75 a night and its lovely

I agree with post 2.
Mid range hotels in Uganda are few and the ones available are expensive
You may also try Havana hotel or Hotel equatorial

Equatorial hotel has a business center on the front part of it.
The hotels is behind the business center and you can access it through the behind entrance.

It has been renovated and still exist.

Hi Katonatours - according to this web site the Equatorial is no longer accepting reservations in Kampala.

http://www.hotelsinuganda.com/equatorial.html

It might require some more investigation. Regards

I would say Rutch is also an option. The location is good, relatively central but still peaceful. There is a nice backyard though the hotel itself is a bit strange (a concrete block converted to some kind of Indian whatever thing). But it is quite ok.

Athina's Tavern is a highly recommended midrange option. excellent location in Kololo close to a bunch of good restaurants and bars. think rooms are around $40-60.

unless you're willing to go above your budget you might instead look at the TKK a newly opened hotel above a mall and near the taxi park. You can see its sign on the tower if you just look up from the taxi park. Around $25 with nice double rooms which made up for the following:

Forget about the included breakfast - little more than a cup of coffee and a slice of bread. The 'hot' showers are also tepid. Was warned by the staff not to fiddle with the shower control and when i did it blew the the mains. Also don't order a meal there as the one i received took ages and when it arrived was terrible.
