I'm planning a trip to Luxor and Aswan in April and would like to hear any advice you might have regarding the cheapest way to do it. I live in Cairo and hold a residence visa but the friend joining me on this trip doesn't.
I'd like to do the sites in and around Luxor, a few nights travelling on the Nile to Aswan and then a night or 2 around Aswan.
I've had a quote from a company that's offering 4 days / 3 nights on a cruiser but this is over budget. I've also read about the feluccas, going south to north, and if anyone has any up-to-date info about these I would appreciate it.
I’ll copy the itinerary that the tour company sent me on to the bottom of this so you get an idea of what’s being offered by people in Cairo at the moment. Hope someone gets some help from it!!
Many thanks in advance and happy travels to you all!!

1Hi Darren and welcome to the Egypt forum.
If you want a cruiseboat I suggest that you keep looking! You should be able to book a two night cruise, with the excursions to Edfu and Kom Ombo only, for a fraction of what you've been quoted, and for things that you don't really want to do from the cruise. The visits in Luxor and Aswan can be done very easily and quite economically via travel agents in those towns.
The only experience of felucca sailing I have is that of messing around the islands at Aswan and traipsing up and down the river around Luxor, very enjoyable in itself but overnighting without any "facilities"? No thanks!

2The range of this tour and the services provided is from 450 US$ to 650 US$ so I find it a reasonable quote you are given by this travel agency. plus the quote includes all the services and entrance fees plus full board accommodation.
I would not recommend doing it any other way because now is the time for the cheapest prices and bargains you can get for Nile Cruises, if tourism revives again you will get this journey for not less than 900 US$
(3 star Hotel)
From US$46.99 per night
(0 star Hotel)
From US$3.77 per night
(2 star Hotel)
From US$6.79 per night
