I will be travelling to Ireland for 8 days with my boyfriend. We are 21 and have had trouble finding a car company that would rent a car to us and are OK to go without. The trains and busses seem to cover the areas that we are planning on seeing.
Itinerary so far:
Day 1: Arrive Dublin afternoon
Day 2: Still in Dublin (hoping to make a day trip to Wicklow- suggestions on how to do this?)
Day 3: Move on to Galway via train
Day 4: Still in Galway (hoping to make a day trip to the cliffs of moher. Again, any suggestions?)
Day 5: Unknown
Day 6: Unknown
Day 7: Move on to Cork
Day 8: Cork (suggestions of things to do?)
We are flying in to Dublin and out of Cork. Day 5 and 6 are what I could really use some help with:
Should we spend time in Clare? Kinsale? Aran?
How should we see the Ring of Kerry?
During any part of the trip we would love suggestions for a great hike or bike trip (no more than 5-hour little excursions)
Dublin and Galway are booked but suggestions for he last half of our trip would be greatly appreciated! I've seen some great tips on this forum so I thought I would try and get some specific advice!

1Day 2: For a day trip to Wicklow without your own transport, your best option is probably to sign up for an organized trip in a minibus. There's a few companies including one called something like Over The Top Tours. There's also a scheduled bus, www.glendaloughbus.com, which will get you to Glendalough, but you won't get to see any of the mountain scenery en route as it goes via main roads and Roundwood.
Day 4: Day trip to Árainn might be more fun than the Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs are just as good in Árainn as at Moher and it's got a lot more going for it in other respects. There's a boat from Ros a' Mhíl with a shuttle service from and to Galway city: http://www.aranislandferries.com/ .
I would recommend visiting Conamara and west Galway and south Mayo, especially since you are going to be in Galway anyway. you could stay a night in Cong, for example. If you still have time, you could try and fit in Kerry as well, but you certainly shouldn't miss Conamara.

2Cork highlights: English Market, St. Fin Barre's Cathedral, Cobh (Titanic port, a short rail journey from Cork, a visit takes about half a day). Also the Crawford Gallery if you're into art, and spare some time for just walking around the city centre - it's not a city with a lot of "must-see sights" but there's a great vibe and lots of interesting small shops, cafes, pubs etc.

3Thank you! Great advice!
I am now definitely going to take a day trip to the Aran Islands. I am thinking now of extending our stay in Galway to do more exploring of the area on day 5 such as Connemara and south Mayo.
Any thoughts on whether we should move to a different city for that night, or keep the "home base " in Galway?
Is it a good idea to stay overnight on one of the Aran Islands or just fly back to the mainland?
Also, any suggestions to help me narrow down what to do in Connemara would be greatly appreciated.
Day 6:I keep hearing the Ring of Kerry is a must do and again, our best option is probably a guided tour. Any suggestions for that? I looked up a few and noticed that most seem to depart from Killarney. I'm sure it would probably be just fine but I have read some suggestions to skip Killarney. Any suggestions of a near-by place to stay or a tour that departs from somewhere else?
Do any rock climbers our there have any tips on where to climb in the west?

4Just to clarify my new version of the Itinerary:
Day 1: Arr. Dublin
Day 2: Tour to Wicklow and Glendalough (Dublin overnight)
Day 3: Move on to Galway on the GO bus
Day 4: Connemara (tour/ exploring and hiking) (Galway overnight)
Day 5: Aran Islands day trip (Galway or Aran overnight?)
Day 6: Move on to Killarney (Tour of the Ring of Kerry- advice?) (Killarney overnight)
Day 7: Killarney in the day but move on to Cork overnight
Day 8: Cork - (stay in Cork over night)
Fly out the next day
Bags feeling light?
Coffee table looking bare?
