Island Hopping GreeceMyself and a few friends are hoping to go island hopping around greece for 12 days or so in July. We're 23/24 and hoping to see quite a few different islands. Ideally we want something slightly off the beaten track but places with plenty of pubs and clubs is pretty crucial too. We'd also consider ending the holiday with a few days on Crete or somewhere. If anyone has advice RE: - Where to fly to
- What are our best islands to go to
- What we'll get in what island.
It would be greatly appreciated.

1A usual mistake first timers do, is to under-estimate time needed to go from A to B and time needed to appreciate each island. Real island hopping is for people having many weeks availiable not 12 days. Assuming your entry point is Athens, then you can visit Athens+ 3 small islands at most, not "quite a few different islands". If you arrive/depart on the islands, then 4 islands on 12 full days are about alright although still on a fast paced trip.. If you want to include Crete, you have to decide if you want to explore the island a bit or just focus on a very specific area. It is a 8,336 km2 (3,219 sq miles) island and even if you spend all your days there, you'll be able to see only a small part of it! You will not find off the beaten track places with plenty of clubs and pubs. Pubs and clubs are obviously aimed to visitors, so what you are asking simply doesn't makes sense. If Crete is a must for you, then you have to factor either a direct flight from abroad if there is one, either ferry/flights from Athens, either ferry through Santorini (and sometimes Anafi island). Sometimes in season you might be lucky to get some flights Crete to/from Rhodes I think. Your question is far far too general as there are 100s of inhabited Greek islands. If you at least decide on Crete, or on an island as entry/exit point in Greece then you have something to start from. Where to fly to I can not guess, you do not mention where you come from. But I suggest to do a basic research and come back with more specific questions.

You have as few as 12 days and it cannot be done to hop to many islands! Maximum 2 islands..
An option is to choose only 1 big island like Rhodes and Crete. Both has areas with night life AND areas off the beaten track. You can fly straight from your country (I only suppose, since you don't mention from WHERE you are) and then move around by yourself.
Here you will have to read yourself: http://www.greecetravel.com/crete/ There is some good nightlife in Chania

3As noted, 12 days is not enough for 'island hopping'. If that 12 days includes your arrival and departure day then you only have 10 full days for anything. So first you have to clarify exactly what 12 days means.
If you have 12 days NOT including arrival and departure days then you might manage 3 stops including wherever you arrive and depart from. If only 10 days then 2 stops.
