Good way from South Thailand to Bali ?

Hello there,

I am in Trang / South Thailand and wanna go to Bali in a couple of days.
In a travel agency here I aked for a flight ticket from Phuket but been told it would cost some 18000.- Baht (600 $).
That sounds a bit hefty. What suggestions would you have.Time is not that important abut a minivan ride isnt an opotion as well.

Thanks
Axel

DON'T USE AN AGENCY!!!!

If you have the time, then travel through Malaysia along the way, get a train down to KL for a few days, maybe go to Melaka or Singapore too, get a flight to Bali from either Singapore or KL, whichever is cheapest. There are some really good budget airlines that have those routes.

Check Air Asia web site, I flew Bali to Phuket last year with them and it cost $26 plus taxes one way.
Departure tax in Singapore costs a small fortune , maybe fly from Kuala Lumpur.

See here if you don't want to fly

Go on, do it the old-fashioned way, Bangkok to Bali overland...well Trang anyways. Pelni boats stil run from Batam and Bintan to Jakarta, you've gotta do that at least once or you can't call yourself "globetrotter" ;-)

I just had a very quick check on Air Asia website, flights around 6,000 Baht from Phuket if booking for the next few days. Booking in advance for early April, price goes down to 3,000 Baht or less.

as above, get down to KL and fly from there.... no requirment for VOA when you enter Malaysia.. you'll automatically get a standard 90 day immigration visit stamp from immigration.

Phuket-Bali with Air Asia.
The flight leaves at 6am, so you probably need a hotel near the airport.
