Can we enjoy Thailand in August?Hi, everyone!
Me and my boyfriend are planning our holidays and we were thinking about Thailand (3 weeks).
The thing is we can only travel in August and from what I read, it seems like this is not a good time to travel in Thailand because of the monsoon.
I've researched some information about Chiang mai, Chiang rai and Koh Tao Island because we would like to do trekking and scuba diving.
Can anyone please tell me if it is impossible to go to these places and make this activities in August?
Thank you very much

From my experience, you'll get more than 50% of rain.
If you can go outside the monsoon do it. I know the prices are better but I spent 1 week inside because of torrential rain in Phuket.
That's not a holiday.

3We've had many a holiday on Koh Samui in August and not been rained out. Some rain, sure but not what you'd call torrential.

4It's only monsoon on the west side of Thailand. I live on Koh Tao, and July and August are our busiest times - the weather is great, it is hot and usually sunny, and diving conditions are excellent. Monsoon season in the gulf islands isn't until October/November. I would recommend avoiding the west coast, however, since they have opposite seasons than the east, and as such are in monsoon (hence why nomad had a wet time in Phuket).
