March or April

Hi All,

I know that someone has already asked this question. Though, i am asking with some different perspective.

I can visit Gilgit, Hunza, Chapurson, Shimshal in March or in April.

Would you let me know in which duration I should be able to see more natural beauty? Is it snow for which should I visit these places or is it something else?

It depends on the weather, usually the trees blossom around mid-april in the lower villages like Karimabad, Gulmit, Passu... in Shimshal or Chapursan (which are higher) it will be too early even at that time for that... but it is enjoyable nonetheless... people are busy working in potato fields, cleaning irrigation canals, cleaning houses etc. Trekking at village altitude is possible, much higher there is risk of avalanches... I'd say that going in april you'll have more chances to witness the blossom, more light, a bit less cold (though you should prepare for cold temperatures in the higher villages)...

The town of Karingabad and the Hunza valley itself, do have a reputation of being very temperate, and they are very beautiful and special places, but any area's that the weather involves snow is very unpredictable, my advise is that it would be very prudent to have a plan 'B'.

Well, obvislously lower down, but the whole area even in summer if there is a sudden temparture change can trigger a rock slide, just because of the topography af the area, so the plan 'B' i guess would be to go some where else.

And i guess the very southern high villages, is a sight to see set up by the British to send their wives and family's to in the summer's, in the time of the Raj.
