Lagos Weather and Roads
Hello!I'm heading back to Lagos this year, and have the option of going in May/ June or in August. I went in August last year and the weather was perfect; little rain, not too hot and dusty.
How wet is May/ June? I'll be staying on Lagos Island but will be going up to the mainland, to Ibadan and to Badagry.
Any advice will be most appreciated!

".....and the weather was perfect; little rain, not too hot and dusty"You are either in a different Nigeria than I know, or a super-duper-optimist.
Weather you find at wikipedia, e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibadan
I am not familiar with Badagry, except on way to Cotonou. Ibadan is basically the largest village in the world; Lagos-Ibadan expressway can be 2.5 hours up to 17 hours; avoid when the churches are open. In Ibadan, you have some cool open-air markets, a good Chinese and a good Libanese restaurant, bit of nightlife, 1 hotel and 1 large hermetically-sealed compound run by a research insititute with guest houses.

Well, I live in Singapore now so I'm used to a little heat and humidity! Thanks for your reply. Have you been to Abeokuta? I was planning on going to Ibadan via there..
Also, when the roads flood in Lagos, how long does it usually take to clear? Flash floods in Singapore subside almost immediately, but then there is all that expensive drainage here...

I was in Lagos last May, along with Port Harcourt and Bonny Island. 3rd visit to the country. During the 10 days I was there, the weather was aok. Warm and humid as usual, but not much rain to talk about and when it did rain, it was relatively quick and painless. Nothing like what you get in Singapore on the wrong day. It was not days of blinding sun or days of blinding rain/damp.Ibadan is not a bad place at all. I've been there twice (for business) and found it rather peaceful after time in Lagos. Some of the roads in Lagos after a heavy rain are pure hell (knee deep water) and nothing like the engineered marvel of Singapore where the drainage has to be considered some of the best in the world. It's all just another part of life in the city and surely nothing to worry about.
Enjoy your trip.
