Slieve Bloom Mountains, where would you stay?
We are looking for any recommendations of where to stay to visit Slieve Bloom mountains. I have had a look at the nearby towns/villages but am having trouble deciding. Ideally we are hoping for Good pubs, great walks & beautiful views. We had an amazing week in Kenmare last Oct & are wanting another fantastic time in Ireland. We have already booked accommodation for 13th-14th April in Durrow as we have a wedding we are going to. We arrive in Dublin 11th so it's just for two nights we are needing to book. Will be hiring a car for the whole stay. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If you think there is a better area to explore, let me know. Thanks1
I like the village of Abbeyleix and stop off there from time to time for a bite to eat when on long journeys...there is a great old-fashioned music pub called Morrissey's and the nearby De Vesci estate...however, it's about 10-12 miles from Slieve Bloom which might be a little far for you?...Anyway, you'll see it when you drive through on your way to Durrow...
