1Don't miss Calambuyan, small island west of Busuanga. Great off the beach snorkeling. Boat from Coron is expensive, take a jeep to Concepcion and hire a banca there. Bring your own snorkeling gear, food, and water, nothing there but a caretaker's hut.

2You might enjoy the SeaDive for a place to stay. There are many great spots to discover just across to Coron Island. A great idea is to find someone to take you Early (or paddle). You will have it to yourself.
I listened to PIkayaker and went to Calambuyan. Great little snorkle spot. The currents get a little wild at full and new moon. The caretaker there wanted me to bring him a cheap basketball when I returned. He's a great guy.

4Kokonuss is a good option for a quiet place to stay, just outside of Coron Town, also another small resort next door if this one is full http://www.kokosnuss.info/
See if can get to climb the viewpoint above Coron Town, great views and also visit the hot springs a few km from the town for an afternoons diversion..

5For about $3500 pesos, you can share a boat with whomever you can gather to drive you around for the day. I wrote about my experience doing this and doing some diving here: http://halftheclothes.com/2011/12/22/underwater-world/
Skip to the last half for the snorkeling -
Twin...something ( peaks?) is a great snorkeling place. I think another place was called Rabbit Island. Just peruse any of the tours offered - the best places are no secret. Then you can strike out on your own. Don't miss Barracuda Lake. And the hotspring hidden by mangroves is really cool.

6Sea dive resort - if you do have to stay in Coron town (which I do not recommend), it is an ok option. But there are LOTS of hotels and lodging houses to stya in Coron.
The sea dive restaurant however is lousy (takes an hour to get your meal) so better eat at other places like la sirinetta.
My personal suggestion would be to stay at a resort AWAY from Coron in one of the islands. like Discovery islands resort. They do not cost much (2500 pesos onwards per night for a cottage ) , and at the end of the day, you will enjoy your stay more. (PS - I have stayed at the latter so you can PM me if you wish to know more about it's pros and cons). There are many such resorts on closeby islands.
some other good staying options are -
Kokosnuss and Princess of Coron
