how expensive is Burma compared to medium budget in Thailand

i stayed in chiangmai in Nov 2011...fan and attached bath hot water..180B..($6)..and i stayed in garden hotel, yangoon, 2 years ago ..$4 for a windowless room..outside bath...may be now $8 (anyone?)...just tell us where you stayed and prices now or in the past..
$15 is amongst the most expensive in SE Asia, except for singapore...

Super expensive. I was just there in March. After travelling Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand (and then onto Sri Lanka and India), Myanmar is THE most expensive out of them all. It was mostly the internal transport that was expensive. Travelling from Yangon to Bagan by train was 50US a ticket! Flying back from Bagan to Yangon was 100US. Their train prices are ridiculous. And the trains are so rickety.We stayed at Motherland Inn2. It was like 20Us a night.
As for their food? Not a huge fan of their buffets. Cooked food sits around unheated all day. Breeding ground for bacteria. Freshly cooked food was delicious. Both were decently priced but not Thailand prices.
