air asia booking/insurance

attempting to book a flight to KL, get to the point of confirmation and an additional $200 plus (2 pax) is added on for insurance ! Is this standard with cheap & uncomfortable air asia?? or are we missing a page / tick box.

You can 'opt out' of the insurance if you want...and it can't possibly be $200....U.S ?

No it is not $200 or do you mean $2. Opt out is my advise.

Opt out, just cancel it.

maybe you should use a travel agent. You are dangerous with a credit card on the Internet.

Thanks for the responses ppl.
Last nights operator must have been clicking past the option page for the Insureance .
( it was slow to load )
Different operator at the keyboard tonight and we managed to nail it without the insureance included.
It was $125 pp
misterfitch: I understand one can only book AA through the Web. Travel agents won't touch them.

And in Malaysia, AirAsia has offices where you can make bookings.

i understand that A A also have offices in thailand. Saw one near Koh San Rd in Dec.
Our son used one in Chang Mai earlier in the year.
Unfortunatley they don't have one here in Australia.
It;s a very streamlined business, hence, the cheap fares.
I bet that the offices in Malaya + Thailand are making them serious coin.
Be gone yesterday if they weren't

The insurance thing could not be correct. Are you sure that you weren't getting something denominated in Ringgit, Bhat or something?
