Venice to Croatia for car rental

Hello,

I'll be in Venice in March, early I know. What is the easiest way to get from Venice to someone in Istria where I can rent a car? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Specifically where in Croatia are you trying to reach? Except for the ferry from Ancona, Italy to Zadar, Croatia, your only transportation option is bus. There are not trains to Istria but you could take a train from Venice to Trieste and then a bus from there.

Should be. Bigger problem is that only some companies permit pick up in one city and drop off in another so then you might find that you need to search for a company that offers this service at your pickup point and drop off location.

Thanks, Ruth. I can drop off at the same place as pickup, so that's not the problem. Perhaps a better way to ask my question is to ask what is the closest town in Croatia that I can reach by bus from Treiste where I can also rent a car. Is there somemmplace closer than Zagreb?

Maybe look on Trieste bus site given above for nearby Croatian destinations. Then look at map before looking at car rental sites.
