Riding the Pelni ship ''Awu'' for 3 consecutive nights Ekonomi class

Hi all,

I am planning to ride the Pelni ship AWU, departing on April 6 from Bali to reach Alor (Kalabahi) 3 nights later (projected schedule).
Anybody rode the Pelni ship AWU before?

Last year when traveling in Maluku/Sulawesi I repeatedly used the Pelni ship CIREMAI in Ekonomi class (sleeping mostly in a quiet corner inside the upper decks).
It was OK since the CIREMAI is a big ship in which you can find quiet spots even if it's crowded, and the maximum time I spent on it was 2 consecutive nights between Ambon and Makassar...

How is the AWU? difficult to judge from the photo, but it looks smaller than the CIREMAI, I wonder if spending 3 consecutive nights on it in Eko class would not be extremely cramped, and if there are some quiet little spots to discover in it...

I'm waiting to hear about AWU experiences from you guys :-))

Wow, three nights on the awu?! That would be too much for me. I spend a day and a night on it many years ago and it was enough for me.
i'd rather take a flight and if you really want to take a ship for parts of the route than maybe from kupang to kalabahi or kalabahi to maumere.
I'd say it's too long, but well, just my opinion.
I guess you pay bali-kupang like 600000 and again 500000-600000 kupang to kalabahi.
you decide

Just a little update, I finally made the 5-night (including delays!!) trip Bali-Kalabahi on the Awu, though in 2d class (only marginally cheaper than the plane) and had a great time the more so as I had the whole cabin with bathroom for myself (no other passenger!!). Just walking around bridges, having a chat or two here and there (Indonesians were almost queuing up to talk to me), food OK, and at night up on the top of the ship catching the breeze and watching stars :-}}
