Sri Lanka in July.....Best Weather & Destination?
Hi.I'm considering a trip to Sri Lanka in July of this year.
BackPacker / Flashpacker budget and can do around 3-4 weeks for a decent look around. I'm interested in some great beaches, the Ancient cities and cultural experiences, plus the wonderful food I have been reading about.
What is the weather like in July? - Is one side of Sri Lanka preferable to the other?
A quick list of maybe the "Must See / Do" and "Avoid This" would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions offered.
Cheers.

I think must be warm. The Est coast at that very time should be free of monsoon and the west, in july is still early to feel the effects. But anyway, nothing else that two hours rain shower!Have a look here!

The east coast is likely to be better than the west coast as far as rainfall goes - the SW monsoon is due then. Note however, the word 'due' - as with everywhere else in the world, it's been more and more unpredictable. It may arrive early or late, or may not arrive at all.Even so, beaches on the east around Trinco (eg Nilaweli) are much better than those on the west coast if that's what you want.

Hey Guys,I've already made all the reservations for Sri Lanka from 14th to 21st of July 2012. Now i'm checking the weather (which I should have done earlier), and it doesnt look good. We're visiting colombo, galle, negombo, kandy, Sigiriya..
Will this weather ruin the vacation? or it's not as serious as it looks?
I appreciate any help
Peter
