Need help planning a 3 week trip...
I tried refraining from directly asking this, but I haven't had too much help from the other threads on this board. This is another "Plan my vacation" type threads....The last time I was in the Philippines 10 years ago, I was there with my family and we stayed only in Tarlac (where my Dad is from). Now, I'm going by myself and I want to explore as much as I can in the three weeks I'm there. I have family I plan to visit in Manila and Tarlac, but that'll only take 3 or 4 days. I'm an open book for the rest of my stay. Whenever I ask my parents for suggestions, they just shower me with "You're going to get kidnapped... They're going to mug/kill you" type stuff. So no help there. And unlike many other tourists, I'm not really interested in sight seeing or adventurous activities (i.e. diving). For the most part, I need to be entertained- a concert, a live show, or even sitting in the audience of a TV show taping. And worse comes to worse- karaoke is fine with me. I'm a big fan of hip-hop dance (and I know it's really popular there) so I definitely want to catch a couple shows. I'm also a fan of wrestling (ie Hulk Hogan, WWE) so I was hoping to catch a wrestling show too. Also, of course, I just want to relax on a nice beach and perhaps stay at a resort (or two) for a few nights. I know I'm all over the place with what I want to do, but that's why I'm here.
Then, I was also thinking of spending a weekend in another nearby major city. I have a cousin who lives in Singapore so perhaps there, but I want a place with good nightlife and budget-friendly accommodations. I have one friend suggesting I go to Bangkok, but portrayal of that place in media intimidates me somewhat (especially b/c I'm alone). But I could just be crazy.... Anyway... HELP! I'm reaching out to my family out there, but they haven't been responding well. HELP HELP HELP.

Open a dictionary and look up the word "budget", then come back with some numbers. Manila does have steady stream of concerts. Many are aging washed-up, aging people like the 'Ventures' (currently), many others I thought were long dead like Jack Jones But there are also lots of, young hip entertainers. It ain't no"Vegas Baby", but you can find some good vibes. Pick your karaoke places carefully, it seems to do something to some drinkers and out comes the bolos. Manila is actually fairly safe compare to many other cities that size. you'll enjoy yourself
